FedEx trucks crash, leave debris across highway

When packages need to be delivered, FedEx and other services begin to travel with them in their commercial vehicles. Unfortunately, if they travel too closely together, there is a high risk of a crash.

When a vehicle carrying mail or packages crashes, it's a horrible situation. In Georgia, two FedEx trucks crashed on Interstate 75. Packages spilled across the roadway and to the side of the road.

What caused the crash? The trucks reportedly sideswiped each other, which resulted in traffic being backed up for an hour or longer.

The good news in this case is that no serious injuries were reported. However, in situations like this, the debris from the crash could quickly become dangerous. Fortunately, workers moved quickly to get the boxes and packages to the side of the road, so they were out of the way of motorists.

This situation is a prime example of why drivers must be cautious around large trucks. When debris is thrown onto a roadway, it has the potential to cause a series of collisions as drivers do their best to avoid it. The fortunate thing in this story is that no vehicles were directly impacted by the packages. If they had been, multiple crashes, and potentially injuries or deaths, would have occurred.

How can you stay safe around truck crashes?

Keep in mind that most trucks are carrying items, like packages or materials, and need space. Stay back far enough that you would be confident in avoiding any debris coming from the vehicle, so you can be prepared to stop or move when needed.
